6 Days Luderitz to Walvis Bay 4x4 Route

Experience one of Namibia’s best off-the-beaten-track 4x4 expeditions.

A 6-day socially distant, complete digital detox submersed in the Namib Desert.

Spend your days enriched with the abundant and mysterious history of the Diamond Coast.

Each day advancing in driving experience and each night beneath a canopy of stars, a warm

fire at your feet and a wild camp unlike any other.

The itinerary acts as a rough guide, yet changes could be made due to tide, time and weather conditions.

DAY 0

We meet and greet over drinks and dinner in Lüderitz at 7 pm

If it is your first time in Lüderitz, and you have the time, plan to arrive a day earlier to enjoy this fascinating little harbour town. Our team can arrange accommodation and activities in Lüderitz for you.

DAY 1 | DEPARTURE

We meet at the Lüderitz Engen Fuel Station for the last opportunity to fill up your tanks and jerry cans.

Depart Lüderitz and head off road and out of reach. Before the day’s dune driving starts, your guides will do a brief safety and vehicle orientation. The day’s dune driving is progressive and designed to suit all, no matter your level of experience. The drive takes us deeper into the dunes where the guides find a good place to wild camp under the Namibian skies.

DAY 2

A full day’s dune driving, direction northwest, rich in

Sperrgebiet history. This day ends with a breathtaking

view of the Atlantic Ocean close to Sylvia Hill.

DAY 3

Today the convoy heads north along the top of the famous Langewand, where dunes of up to two-hundred-meters merge directly with the cold

Atlantic Ocean. Tides and timing will come into play, and we set up

camp with the Atlantic at our feet. By now you would have forgotten about your devices and the mundane day to day back home. Day 3 is when a feeling of true relaxation takes over. Take a breath of real fresh air and absorb the sights and sounds of uncharted Namibia.

DAY 4

After a relaxing breakfast outdoors, we venture toward the abandoned diamond mining towns. Fascinating and eerie. A fantastic day for photographs and incredible stories. In these mining towns, a strong sense of desolation drifts over as does your imagination of what the mine workers and prospectors had to endure here in the early 1900s. This experience transports one back in time and offers perspective to the world we live in today.

Yet another night under the stars where your guide will answer all questions from the day around the campfire.

DAY 5

The day’s route takes the convoy past the famous shipwreck of the Eduard Bohlen before a beach drive towards Conception Bay, another stunning area rich in history. We spend our final night in one of the most tranquil and beautiful areas on this route, the lagoon of Sandwich Harbour.

During summer months, or if we find ourselves amidst an east weather in winter and the evening simmers down to absolute magic, you can brave the cold waters for a refreshing swim.

DAY 6

Awake to the sound of subtle waves breaking, possibly a sighting of dolphins or seals in the lagoon, and the sound of curious seabirds. Breakfast is served at the waterside. Today we enjoy the final hours of desert driving, and the freedom of the beach, before returning to civilization around midday.

The tour is concluded with a lunch in Walvis Bay.

Accommodation and activities in and around Walvis Bay can be arranged by our team.
